Museum Trip

Last Friday Issy and I hopped on the train and headed to Sydney to visit the Australian Museum.
We have been talking about going for a while and even talked to friends about going (sorry we went without you. We are up for another visit though ;)) and so Friday seemed like the perfect day. We had just had a week of winter-ey weather but the sun was shining (a must for the walk from the train station to the Museum!) and it was the start of a beautiful day.
enjoying a break at the park before heading to the museum

Isabelle's favourite exhibition was the skeletons. We would have stayed in there all day if she had her way. She was very interested in all the different animals' skeletons and looking at how they were similar.

The dinosaur exhibition was not as successful at first, roaring sound effects are played intermittently and Issy was not a fan, but after having a wander and a touch of the different bones and teeth displayed she calmed down and really enjoyed it. I think that the fact she got to touch things, and have a 'dig' in an artificial site helped.
There was also a touch screen computer game where you designed your own dinosaur and then got to colour it in, Issy wanted to take it home!

Issy also loved the Search and Discover room. There was a little bench set up where you could learn to draw insects and animals etc and she love drawing new things.

Changes

Just looking at my new profile picture:
(more awesome photos here)
and comparing it to my blog header:

The blog header photo was taken around Easter time last year (is that right Mel) and the first photo was taken a couple of weekends ago.

Her facial features haven't really changed. She still has awesome blues eyes and the cutest nose, but maybe its because she looks so much older! More than a year older.
Maybe its also the super loooonng hair with the natural highlights!

What do you think???

New photos

Mel has posted some new photos of Miss Issy doing her thing over here.
Go and check them out and leave a comment about her cuteness!

I have also finally almost caught up with my photo blog.

Mish-Mash jumble

It has been a while since I have written anything here.

So here is a mish-mash jumble of everything that has happened over the last few weeks.

Isabelle had her fourth swimming lesson last Wednesday, her two class mates were away so she had a private lesson. And during this lesson, Issy swam with only her back bubble! She likes (well, liked to) hold onto hands/fingers/shoulders anything, but that is a thing of the past!
After her swimming lesson, we had a swim in the leisure pool and she wanted to swim all by herself for the 30-45 minutes we were swimming.
Her water confidence has come along in such huge leaps and bounds, one very proud Mumma over here.

Like swimming, school was gone just as smoothly.
Even though she has only been for three weeks, she has settled in so quickly that it feels like we have been there for a lot longer.
I met the Mum of her new BFF last week and we will be having a play date at her house soon, along with the other BFF.
Apparently Isabelle is not the only one who cries because she has to come home. Sophia (BFF1) also wants to stay at school all week :)

A couple of weeks ago during bedtime reading, Issy asked me if I could teach her to read - right there and then.
She was insistent on learning to read and even rang Aunty Amanda and asked her if she could teach her. So Aunty Amanda came over and taught her the first six sounds following the structure she uses at school (Jolly Phonics). Issy loves recognising the different letters, and making the actions that accompany the sounds.

Yesterday (Friday) Isabelle and I headed down to Sydney to visit the Australian Museum
.
I haven't downloaded the photos yet, but once they on the computer, I will do a post about our day.

We have been having some winter-y weather at the moment, even though technically we are still in summer.
Usually I am a summer person, but this year I am looking forward to winter.
I went looking for winter clothes for Isabelle last week (Mon and Tues seem so long from 9-3!) and didn't really find anything that I liked (or for me for that matter).

Isabelle makes a video

Just a quick post today.
Isabelle has a new 'friend', Olivia. After watching Olivia's video at Aunty Mel and Amanda's place, Issy wanted to make her own video.
So Mel set up her Mac and this is what Issy produced (it is an edited version - she didn't want to get off the computer!)

It's oh so quiet....

The house is eerily quiet.

There have been no requests:
for drinks in a princess cup.
for another piece of cheese.
to watch "the rats" (Flushed Away)
for more paper to write on.
to paint.
to climb on the table.
to be able to take her shirt off because she is too hot (not that she always asked!)
to ring Aunty Amanda at work.

Today is Isabelle's first day of preschool.
She has been excited about it for the last week or so, we have been talking about it and wondering what she will do and wondering about the friends she will make.

Apparently she will not be playing with the boys at her school, only the girls. She was convinced that there were only girls there.
She was also worried because she didn't have any magic.
Why would you need magic at preschool??
To make friends of course!
She was concerned about her lack of magic, and I asked her what she needed it for? So she could make friends.
And so after reassuring her that all she needed to make friends was a to be happy and have a smile on her face, we practiced.
She was confident in her friend making abilities after that.

It didn't take her as long to get ready as I thought, she was in such a rush to get to school. There was no dilly-dally and no tears! And once she was ready was itching to get out the door so we got to school a little earlier than I have planned, so we sat and talked about what she would play with today in the playground, and watched as other children started showing up.
Then it was straight in, and straight to the toys!

on her way out to the car. She had no time for photos!
