A bit of this and a bit of that

Last week was the last Kindergym day as school holidays have started. There was no mention of telling anyone about her clothes. It was a themed day, with the kids completing nursery rhyme themed activities, Issy's favourite was Little Miss Muffet, where she sat on the swing and I made the little spider climb down one side at the right moment, and she jumped off and 'ran away'! And then she spied the dish and spoon from Hey Diddle Diddle and she used those to pretend to eat her 'curds and whey'!

Did you know that your fingers could get so sharp that you would need to trim them? I didn't until Issy pointed out that hers were!

If Issy asked you anything (name of someone/where something is etc) and your answer is 'I don't know", she replies, "No! Tell me!"

One of her favourite toys at the moment is an old cardboard box. She packs it up to take to the beach! She is very much into the imaginative stage of play - other favourites are her kitchen, the food, her dress-ups, babies.
She also loves to 'read' her books. All the books that are left from my brothers and sisters are in her bookshelf, her favourite ones at the moment are The Bernstein Bears, she loves to cuddle up and read stories, and even takes a The Bernstein Bears book to school each week.

I am thinking of making this for Issy. She loves to draw and write, and who wouldn't want to receive something sweet in the mail every now and then!

Issy loves to 'spell' out words for me when we are writing. It sounds a little like this:
"O B X S S. Thank you!"

I found these
through here and have ordered Issy some. They are all so super cute!

Last Wednesday, Issy wasn't in the mood for dinner so I made her this:
(inspired by here)

It included a toasted cheese sandwich, carrot and celery sticks, grapes and hummus for dipping everything (her idea).
She loved it and ate everything except for a couple of carrot sticks so it will be happening again.

Saturday was my friend Ali's hens night celebrations. The wedding isn't until November, but she has so much on between now and then she decided to have it now when she could enjoy it.
It was so much fun! We went to the races at Randwick and then had dinner on board Stallions Afloat.
Issy stayed over at Aunty Mel and Amanda's, you can see/read what she did on Saturday here.

To keep up with the theme of randomness in this blog post, this is a dream Issy had a while back:
"My legs were flying, and my shoes were kites! They went really high!"

Miss Issy

Last week, as Issy was getting dressed for Kindergym, she chose her new blue Dora shirt and said, "the tall lady will say 'ohh I like your new Dora shirt' to me today!"
So off we went to Kindergym and I forgot all about the comment about the shirt. Issy had a good time, she didn't want to climb through the tunnel or go up the ladder (but she loves to climb up the one for the flying fox!), and even stayed behind to help Megan (the tall lady) clean up.
In the car on the way home, she started to get really upset and was on the verge of tears. After getting her to calm down, she told me "she didn't say anything about my new Dora shirt!" She was so upset about it, poor little possum.
So tomorrow (depending on what she wears) I will have to remember to tell Megan!

Lately, Issy has been doing a lot of big girl things. Taking herself to the toilet, getting dressed, wanting to get her breakfast all by herself, and even brushing her own hair:(warning: bad photo coming up)

Her hair is getting so long, I don't want it to be super long, but if she gets a hair cut there goes her curls :(

Some days, she is really excited about Ali and Andrew's wedding, other days she wants to do things her way:
*Some days she is treating the aisle like a catwalk and struts her model walk
*She is not having curly hair!
*She is carrying flowers
*She wants to wear clothes - specifically, her little pants (shorts) and a shirt
*She is throwing petals: she will gather them up from the floor and throw them in the air!
*She is running down the aisle (she came out with this idea while Ali was in the car - she had Ali laughing the rest of the way home)
*She is wearing pink shoes
*She is wearing a pink dress
*She is having pink flowers

Issy is also recognising letters everywhere! Sssss for snake is her favourite, and she has just learnt D for Daniel(Aunty Fiona's boy), X is another one she knows, but remembering what words it starts is a little tricky. She loves to make an "ekse" with the arms of her new sunnies.

Oh, and Mel has some new photos up: here

Our week in review........

Last Monday, Isabelle and I went to have a look and enroll into her new preschool for next year.
This is an actual preschool - not a childcare/preschool/long day care kind of place. Issy really enjoyed her time there, so much so that when Tuesday morning rolled around she told me she didn't want to go to her school, she really wants to go to the new one. When I asked her why she told me it was "boring"!

I am tempted to give the new place a ring and see if they have any openings for the last term, and take out of the child care place.

Needless to say, Issy didn't go to school today, and that afternoon about 4/4.30pm she crashed out on the couch and had a big sleep.
I thought she might be coming down with something because she hardly sleeps at home during the day, but after a while (and an ice cream cone) she is back to her usual 'endless energy' self.

Wednesday was my friend's birthday, so Issy and I took her out for lunch and a game of putt-putt. This time we went to a newer place, and it was a lot better - the game still went quickly with Issy directing the shots!
That night we stayed with Aunty Fee and Daniel and rocked out on the Wii. Issy loves playing with "the little people". The next day we went bowling, and Issy put on her director/photographers hat and sat beside the lane to tell us how to bowl and so she could get photos. (which will be uploaded later, once I find the camera!)

Friday we went shopping for "summer dresses". Isabelle has been wearing last summer's dresses this winter with shirts, stockings and jackets, and they are just too small, so we headed out to Target to get some new dresses and shirts. And we also came home with some pink polka dotted sunglasses for Issy, which are so much her than her black ones (which we still haven't found).

And today? We voted (local council) and Issy had a swim at Aunty Mel and Amanda's and is currently there staying the night. Grandad rang to find out where we voted and of course, Issy had to talk on the phone too. He asked her if she voted and she replied "No, but I will when I'm bigger". :)

Kindergym

Kindergym today was a success! As we were hopping in the car afterwards, she said, "I really like kindergym". She was a bit shy to start with (nothing unusual), but joined in straight away, no clinging to Mum when the other kids were there.
She didn't always stick to the route that was laid out for the kids, she loved other obstacles better than others, but the teacher said, that is what they expect from kids this age. I had no worry with it either, and we will be heading back next week.
There are only three weeks of this term left, and she may be moved up to the "older" one for next term, will find that all out next time.

We baked up a storm this afternoon. We made banana bread, full-of-fruit muffins (mini size for her lunchbox) and mini ham and vegetable frittatas.
I didn't do any baking shots, or even afters, because Issy needed the camera, and I think it may still be in the car.

These are Issy's shoes for the wedding. She is in love with them, so completely in love, she wanted to wear them to bed! Ali and Andrew bought them over last week, along with a gorgeous headband and Issy would not try them on to see if they were the right fit. She finally put them on, and then after they left, she stripped off all on her own and put the dress and headband on and came to show me!

The shoes are a good fit for now, so Ali also got the next size up for 'just in case'.

Putt Putt

Last weekend, Issy and I went putt putt golf-ing. This is her second time (we played on Mother's Day with the whole clan), and she has the best game plan. It involved hitting the ball once, then catching it as it rolled along, placing the ball as close to the hole as possible and then hitting it in!
Needless to say, the game went by pretty quickly.

I have tried 'sprucing' up my photos - I have no idea what I am doing, so no laughing!
The first shot:

Afterwards we went over to Aunty Fiona's and had a turn on her Wii, playing bowling - Issy's other favourite game. She has asked if we can play, so maybe we might go this weekend. If you wanna come, let me know!

This week is a little busy:
Monday - chill at home
Tuesday - school of Issy/uni work for me
Wednesday - kindgym
Thursday - library, dentist for me, then Aunty Amanda's school's showcase in the evening
Friday - swimming (maybe)/ watching Aunty Amy, Sarah and Emily at Rock Eisteddfod
Saturday - bowling (maybe)
Sunday - Father's Day

I have no idea what to get Dad, and his birthday is in a couple of weeks too.... What to buy........

Dreams and Gypsy

Last night Issy woke up from a bad dream and said "Kim is trying to get me". Kim is one of my great friends from forever ago. We had dinner with her about a month ago, and I was a little surprised that Issy remembered.
She said that she and Kim were playing hide and seek, and she was hiding like this (and put her hands over her eyes) and Kim was trying to get her. She told me it wasn't fun anymore.
It isn't the first bad dream she has had, and I doubt it will be the last, just didn't think they would start now... don't know why....

Gypsy has gotten better. She is a little calmer - unless someone knocks on the door or gives her a fright. Dad thinks we should change her name to 'Dory' from Finding Nemo because Gypsy doesn't remember a thing!
Whenever Gypsy tries to lick or snuggle, a little voice tells me "she just wants to be your friend" or "She's just saying hello"!!
I have no problem with the snuggles, its the licking of my face that I'm against! Gyspy also has a little jealous streak, if Issy is on my lap having a cuddle, she tries to climb up and join in, or squeeze in between us, espcially in bed! Gyspy just doesn't want to miss out!

I have some photos of Issy at putt putt golf from the weekend, but haven't downloaded them to the computer yet, or the photos of her in her flowergirl dress and shoes. The shoes are just so Issy, ballet flat style and all sliver glittery, they are beautiful!
